This Week

posted Feb 15, 2018, 2:20 PM by Nancy Draney

We officially celebrated Valentine's Day ( thank you for the thoughtful cards and gifts), 100 Day, Mardi Gras and Pancake Day!  Pancakes were our favorite.  Now we are immersed in Lent after our liturgy and receiving ashes yesterday.  We are working each day to prepare ourselves for Easter by doing good deeds and/or making sacrifices.

Amazing Week so Far!

posted Jan 31, 2018, 2:57 PM by Nancy Draney

We have been having an amazing week so far!

We had Musical Chairs on Monday which was a lot of fun!  Who knew our class knew "The Wiggles" dances so well?!  Congratulations to Logan for winning that and Lucy came so close!  We also got to participate in Brain Games!  Even the teachers had a chance to compete.  We also made Snow in a Jar!

Yesterday, we had our Tuesday Prayer Service and everyone did an awesome job dressing as their favorite book character.  The classes had an opportunity to present to all the classes and even to the 7 & 8th grades and Kindergarten in front of the whole lunchroom!  We were then visited by the Bergen Animal Shelter with an informative assembly.

Today, Jacob came in 2nd place in our Spelling Bee! Congratulations to him and the whole class for participating which is not an easy thing to do!  Everyone did will and there are a few words that we will never spell wrong again!

The Penny Wars are really collecting a lot of coins and causing quite a stir!

Parent Assignment - Career Day

posted Jan 23, 2018, 6:30 PM by Nancy Draney   [ updated Feb 1, 2018, 1:50 PM ]

You can make a big impact with minimal effort.  The Parent Assignment is optional.  If you do choose to participate, the best part is that you don't have to take time off of work to visit our classroom.

You can choose Option One - take part in being interviewed by your child which your child will present to the class or Option Two - create a short video and email it to ndraney@corpuschristischool.net.

Our 3rd grade students will love hearing all about their parents occupations on Career Day.

Either option is due by Monday, January 29th.

Thank you in advance!

Tops and Bottoms

posted Jan 8, 2018, 3:57 PM by Nancy Draney   [ updated Jan 8, 2018, 3:58 PM ]

We saw for ourselves today what the Hare and the Bear in the story meant by Tops and Bottoms of vegetables.   As we read this "trickster tale" we are learning all about the theme or life lesson of the story.

Sammy the Elf

posted Dec 17, 2017, 7:50 PM by Nancy Draney   [ updated Dec 17, 2017, 7:54 PM ]

Yes, our Elf, Sammy, arrived this week after much anticipation! It was after a lot of commotion and the whole school looking for him and writing to their own elves.  A special thank you to Norbert, KA's elf for making a special trip to look for him.  Luckily, Sammy made his way to our classroom special delivery. Now,  he is up to the usual elf antics and reporting back to the North Pole.  Only a few more days....

Elves, Grinch Kabobs and Conferences

posted Dec 10, 2017, 6:03 PM by Nancy Draney   [ updated Dec 10, 2017, 6:05 PM ]

It was a busy week with two half days and finishing with a school liturgy to celebrate the Immaculate Conception.  We were all so proud of the students who achieved honors some of whom were our brothers, sisters and cousins.

We wrote about what we do if we were an elf!  Of course, there is a great mystery surrounding our class elf.  The only explanation is that he is mixed up since I just moved to Corpus Christi School this year.  Who knows?? He may find his way to us yet!!!
We also wrote a "how to paragraph" to describe how we actually made "Grinch Kabobs" in our classroom using our sequencing words.

Finally, it was a pleasure to meet with so many parents this week and have the opportunity to update everyone about how well our students are doing so far.
